Arsenal are set to suffer a huge blow in its attempt to tie Hector Bellerin down to a new contract, according to reports.
The defender was the subject of interest from other clubs in the summer transfer window amongst whom were Barcelona, Manchester City and Bayern Munich but Arsenal were not prepared to entertain any offer for his services.
Arsenal have now moved to secure the Spaniard’s long-term future by offering him a new deal. It is believed the club will initiate talks with the player’s representatives when he returns from the international break but HITC Sports has revealed the club is set to receive a bad news when they contact the player’s camp.
According to the report, Bellerin wants to leave Arsenal for Manchester City and will turn down the club’s contract offer.
This is shocking as the player is already an established member of Wenger’s squad and the proposed new deal will double his current wage of about £50,000 a week to about a £100,000 a week.
But sources close to The Times claim the 21-year-old will prefer to reunite with Pep Guardiola at the Etihad.
Bellerin joined Arsenal from Barcelona’s La Masia academy in 2011, where he played under the current City boss before.
Arsenal fans will not be happy with this report because in a competitive league like the Premier League, losing your best players to a rival could be very dangerous.
