End Of Giroud? £52.5m Lethal Attacker To Arrive North London For Medical

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal are interested in signing FC Porto forward Andre Silva, according to reports.

The 20-year-old has been one of Porto’s best players this season and apparently our scouts have been impressed by his performances.

According to Portuguese newspaper O’Jogo via The Metro, we sent our scouts to watch Silva in Porto’s Champions League game against Leicester City a fortnight ago.

Reports claim we first noticed the striker in the under-20 world cup competition where he scored four goals during the course of the competition and Wenger ordered our scouts to keep a close eye on the Portuguese.

It is believed that we will continue to scout the player with the hope of making a move for him in the future. Silva made his debut for Porto last December and currently has a £52.5m release clause in his contract.

Ivan Gazidis recently revealed that we would now focus on signing talented young footballers and the nurture them into fine footballers – Silva definitely fits into the category.

Whether Arsenal will be able to sign the striker is another question. Porto are known for selling their best players for outrageous sum and we are known for our frugality in the transfer market. The Portuguese giants will insist we meet his release clause, should he continue to improve and whether we would set aside our principle and activate the player’s release clause is something I’m not sure will happen.

We have the money to spend, we just need to act. If we were to activate the release clause, it will make him our most expensive signing.
