Arsenal target Djibril Sidibe has been slammed by his manager for his comments about a possible move to the Premier League next summer.

The full-back was linked with a move to the Emirates in the summer transfer window but ended up signing for Monaco. Recently he opened up on our interest and claimed he didn’t have time to think about our offer as we made a bid very late. He also added that he is looking to establish himself at Monaco and then move to the Premier League next summer, suggesting he is open to the possibility of becoming a Gunner.

His recent comments hasn’t gone down well with his manager Leonardo Jardim and the boss has blasted him for his comments.

Jardim insists the player has no right to decide whether he will stay or leave the club next summer.

‘I do not think that he said that exactly,’ said Jardim.

‘What is bad is the attempt by a player to suggest that he is only here for one year.

‘That is up to the club not the player.’

Jardim is absolutely right, the defender signed a five-year deal with Monaco in July and will have four left by next summer. The French club will still be in pole position to decide whether he gets a transfer or not.

However, whether we will be interested next summer remains to be seen. Should we renew our interest in the defender, it could be a transfer saga that would drag on for a long time and end up costing us a lot of money.

We will have to wait until next summer to see if Sidibe would complete his dream switch to the Premier League.
