Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are set to go head to head in the race to sign Real Madrid midfielder Isco, according to reports.

The playmaker is facing a difficult situation at Madrid and has struggled to impress since he joined the capital club in 2013. The high level of competition for places at the Bernabeu has not helped his cause and reports in Spain are claiming Madrid are willing to let him leave for the right price.

According to Diario Madridista via the Daily Star, the midfielder is attracting interest from the Premier League.

Arsenal alongside Tottenham and Manchester City are believed to be keeping tabs on the player’s situation with the hope of making a move in the winter transfer window.

His former club Malaga are also interested in signing him but would struggle to compete with Premier League clubs in the race to sign the midfielder.

Isco is a long-term Arsenal target and Wenger is believed to be a big fan of the Spaniard. Whether the boss is still interested in the midfielder considering the number of options we have in midfield is something I doubt. But Isco will strengthen any squad in the world, including ours and that’s enough reason for us to be interested in signing him.

The player’s versatility will also be a great asset to our club and will ease the creative workload on Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez if he joins us.

However, Real Madrid have been handed a ban from signing players in the next three transfer windows and it will take a huge fee to convince them to sell Isco especially as they can’t sign a replacement. We will have to wait and see if Wenger will be willing to pay much for the midfielder but I doubt, considering we are doing well at the moment.
