£400,000-a-week DONE DEAL?

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal are preparing to make a move for Borussia Dortmund star Marco Reus as contract talks with Alexis Sanchez stalls, according to The Daily Star.

Sanchez is already into the penultimate year of his contract and he is not even close to signing a new contract despite commencing with Arsenal chiefs since August.

Reports claim negotiations have not made much progress because the striker has demanded a huge pay rise in his new deal. Although Arsenal are prepared to offer him an improved deal, we are reluctant to meet his specific demands.

He is currently the subject of interest from China and has reportedly received a staggering offer of about £400,000 weekly from a club in China

This has placed the Chilean’s long-term future at Arsenal in doubt and Wenger is already preparing for the worse case scenario and has lined up Reus as a replacement should he decide to leave.

Wenger is believed to be a big fan of the Germany attacker and has reportedly tried to sign him on several occasions but will only make a move for the German if Sanchez leaves the Emirates.

Reus is regarded as one of Europe’s best forward and will be a great acquisition for any club. However, his injury record remains a concern. The Germany international has spent more time out injured than on the pitch and I don’t think Arsenal Wenger would want an injury-prone player to replace a key man like Sanchez.

Should Reus manage to stay fit, he will definitely be among the best players in the league. I’d like to think Wenger is still keeping his options open and will watch how well the German stays fit this term before launching a move for him.
