Arsenal have received a huge boost in its attempt to sign Wolfsburg playmaker Julian Draxler, according to reports.
Draxler is a long-time Arsenal target and has been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal since his days at Schalke 04.
The Germany international has established himself as one of Bundesliga’s most talented midfielders over the years and was on the radar of big clubs when he was at Schalke but last year opted to join Wolfsburg. He enjoyed a superb first season at Wolfsburg but things began to fall apart for him this past summer.
Following an impressive season and a superb outing with the Germany national at the Euro 2016, Draxler was linked with a move to some of Europe’s elite clubs, including Arsenal. The reported interest got into his head and he tried to force a move away but Wolfsburg were reluctant to sell and rejected all bids for the 23 year old.
The winger has since then failed to replicate his form of last season and has now strained his relationship with his club, as well as the fans.
After being booed by the fans last weekend, the midfielder publicly revealed he wants to leave the club as soon as possible. His latest outburst appears to have angered his club and according to German website Sport Buzzer via The Express, the winger has been told he will never play for the club again.
Wolfsburg are now ready to sell the winger in January and will listen to offers around £30m for his services.
This will definitely come as good news to Wenger who was reportedly prepared to pay up to £50m for the German last summer.
Wenger is a big fan of the playmaker and has publicly revealed his admiration for the lad on several occasions. This could now serve as a superb opportunity for him to get his man.
However, if the player’s form this season is anything to go by, Arsenal will be better off staying away from him but he has shown in the past that he has the potential to develop into a top player and maybe a move away from Wolfsburg can put him back on track.
A move for Draxler could appeal to Wenger considering Sanchez is stalling on a signing a new contract with us.
