Arsenal have been placed on red alert after Ajax manager Peter Bosz confirmed that long-time Gunners target Riechedly Bazoer could leave the club in the winter transfer window.
The talented midfielder who has been likened to Patrick Vieira in his homeland has been linked with virtually all the top clubs in England as well as Barcelona in recent years.
Arsenal have been monitoring the striker for quite a long time and even tried to sign him three years ago. Despite that unsuccessful attempt, Wenger continued to monitor the player’s development and now that he is available on transfer, we are expected to step up our interest again.
The midfielder was left out of Ajax Europa league game against Standard Liege on Thursday, and his manager has confirmed that he expects the lad to move on this winter.
He said: “After talks with Riechedly I assume there is a big chance that he is not with this team anymore after the winter break.
“Against Standard I want to play young players so they can get used to this international level.”
Arsenal are believed to be in pole position to sign the midfielder as Wenger is reportedly keen not to miss out on the Dutch man this time around.
Should Bazoer move to the Emirates, he will increase the amount of competition for midfield places at the club.
Wenger already has enough options available to him in central midfield but the availability of Bazoer due to his huge potential seems too good to ignore.
