Arsenal are preparing a bid to sign Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to a report in Gunnersphere.com.

The Gabonese international has been consistently linked with a move to Arsenal in the past and it shouldn’t be surprising that he is being linked with us again.

The striker was one of Wenger’s priority targets in the last transfer window but BVB were not prepared to sell him after losing key players like Mkhitaryan and Gundogan that summer.

Wenger then turned to Alexis Sanchez and the Chilean has proven that he can be that world class striker we have been searching for. But reports in Germany reckon that Wenger is still keen on Aubameyang.

The reports claim Wenger still wants to strengthen his strike force and sees Aubameyang as a quality acquisition.

It is unlikely that BVB would want to sell the striker in January so any move in the new year would likely be rebuffed.

A move next summer looks more realistic but it remains to be seen if Wenger will really make a move to sign the striker after Sanchez’s exploits as a centre forward this term.

However, Arsenal will face competition from Manchester City and Real Madrid who are also keeping tabs on the striker. The Gabonese international has always stated his preference to play for Madrid so it would take something special for us to lure him to the Emirates.

Aubameyang has scored 19 goals in 20 appearances this season, establishing himself as one of Europe’s most prolific striker. what a quality addition he will be to our squad if he does make a move to the Emirates.
