Arsenal have opened talks with Dutch side AZ Alkmaar to sign talented goalkeeper Jasper Schendelaar, according to reports.
Schendelaar is regarded as one of Holland’s brightest talent and the young goalkeeper has already caught Arsene Wenger’s attention.
The goalkeeper who is still 16 years old is yet to make his first-team debut for AZ but his performances for the junior team has been so impressive.
And Tutto Mercato Web via HITC Sport has now revealed that Wenger is keen to sign the lad.
The report claims Arsenal have made contact with AZ about signing the goalkeeper and Wenger is hoping to reach an agreement the Dutch club in January
Schendelaar contract at AZ expires in 2019 and those at Arsenal are confident that a deal can be struck in the new year.
Arsenal currently do not have any problem in the goalkeeping department as Wenger has Petr Cech, David Ospina and Emiliano Martinez all available to him to choose from but the boss has been busy searching out for a talented goalkeeper who will learn from and take over from the Czech Republic man when he eventually retires.
We were linked with Fiorentina’s 17 year old goalkeeper Giacomo Satalino in October but now Schendelaar is top of Wenger’s wishlist.
That said, Arsenal are well known for signing talented young players and nuturing them into top professionals, it will be interesting to find out how things play out for Schendelaar if he does sign for Arsenal.
