According to Tribal Football, Arsenal are more confident of extending Mesut Ozil’s contract over Alexis Sanchez.

The Gunners have been in talks with both players since August to extend their contract which has less than two years to run out but an agreement has not been reached with any of them.

There are contradictory reports about the situation of talks between Arsenal and the players. Last week, Arsenal secretary David Miles revealed that talks with both players are progressing as planned but media houses are claiming talks with both players have reached a stalemate.

The reports claim the players want a substantial rise to their current salaries, way more than what Arsenal had budgeted. And this has in turn placed their future in doubts as other big clubs circle around them.

But according to the Daily Mail, Arsenal are optimistic that it can convince Ozil to sign a new contract after the German bought a huge house in North London last month. Wenger believes the player is settled in London and can be convinced to sign a new five year deal worth around £200,000 weekly.

But the situation is different with Sanchez. The Chilean is pushing hard for a new deal worth around £300,000 weekly. He recently received a massive offer of about £400,000 weekly from a Chinese club and the huge offer has made negotiations between him and Arsenal tougher as he is holding for a huge pay rise.

Gooners are keen for both players to stay here and would not be happy if any of them is allowed to leave the Emirates at the end of the season.
