Arsenal could miss out on long-time target Ademola Lookman, according to reports.
Club scouts have been monitoring Lookman since he broke into the scene last year and it was thought Arsenal would launch a serious assault to bring him to the Premier League.
Although reports claimed we an unsuccessful attempt to sign the striker last summer but his club Charlton Athletic were not interested in selling him.
The England U20 international has continued to impress this season and more clubs have joined the race to sign him.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Crystal Palace, Celtic and Everton have all sent scouts to watch the striker in action this season.
But according to the Independent, it is Everton who are leading the race to sign the young striker.
The report claims the 19 year old is on the verge of moving to Goodison park next month in an £11m deal.
This will come as a huge blow to Wenger who had ordered scouts to keep a close watch on the striker’s development.
It remains to be seen whether Wenger would make a move to scupper Everton’s bid but it seems unlikely considering the number of options available to Wenger upfront.
Chuba Akpom, another talented young striker has not even gotten a chance in Arsenal’s first team this season, so it is unlikely Lookman will get a shot at Arsenal’s first team if he joins us which would give Everton an edge in the race to sign him as he has a better chance at the first team at the Goodison Park.
