Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Olivier Giroud and Francis Coquelin are close to committing their futures to Arsenal, according to reports in France.

Wenger have been working on extending player’s existing contracts as majority of Arsenal stars have less than two years left on their current deal. The boss had prioritised extending Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez’s contract but much progress has not been made on that front.

However, there is good news for Arsenal fans as Giroud and Coquelin are close to signing new deals.

According to French Publication RMC Sport via Ibtimes UK, Giroud is close to signing a new three-year contract which will expire in 2019 while Coquelin will extend his contract until 2021.

Giroud’s new deal will represent a one-year extension to his current deal which is supposed to expire in 2018.

The striker’s future has been up in the air since he lost his place in the starting xi to Sanchez but Wenger recently revealed that he wants him to stay here as he is still crucial to Arsenal’s plans.

Coquelin has been a regular feature in the starting xi in the last two seasons and the new deal will come as a reward for his impressive displays. The French midfielder currently earns about £40,000 a week and the new deal is expected to double his salary.

The report claims an agreement has been reached between all parties and the deal could be signed and announced anytime from now.

This will come as good news to Gooners as it is another proof that we can keep our best players after Hector Bellerin signed a new long-term contract here last month.

Arsenal chiefs will now turn their attention towards extending Ozil and Sanchez’s contracts, having initiated talks with the duo since August.
