Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.
Arsenal target and Bayern Munich star David Alaba has revealed he was an Arsenal fan when he was growing up.
Alaba whose Bayern Munich is set to face Arsenal in this year’s Champions League round of 16 has revealed he is already looking forward to the fixture.
The defender says facing his childhood team and playing in London is is very special to him.
He told Bild : “For me, games against Arsenal are always beautiful because in my childhood they were my favourite team!
“Playing in London is also fantastic – almost as good as the Allianz Arena.”
The player’s comments will excite Gooners if not for anything but for the fact that the player sounded like he is still one of us.
Arsenal and Manchester United were recently linked with the defender as it was suggested that he could be tempted to move to the Premier League having won everything at Bayern Munich.
And peradventure he happens to be interested in a move to England, the player’s preferred destination will likely be London – The Emirates.
I’m sure every Gooner will be keen for this to happen and would be hoping Wenger makes a cheeky bid for the defender next summer.
The Telegraph claimed Wenger has made signing a left back at the end of the season top of his priorities and I don’t see why Alaba cannot be that man.
Although it looks like a tough ask at this stage but in football, anything can happen and i’ll be so elated if Alaba ends up at the Emirates.
