Arsenal’s Chuba Akpom could head to Ipswich on loan this January window.
Akpom has been unable to make an impact in Arsenal’s squad despite hoping to take advantage of Arsene Wenger’s decision to keep him in the squad this season.
Wenger opted against sending the striker out on loan in the last transfer window despite the amount of interest in the youngster but that decision hasn’t turned out to be the right one as the player has only featured once this season.
With the January transfer window a fortnight away, Akpom is one of the numerous players expected to leave the Emirates on loan and Owngoalnigeria.com via the Daily Star claims Ipswich is the player’s likeliest destination.
The imminent arrival of Danny Welbeck will further reduce Akpom’s chances of featuring in Wenger’s first team this season and a move out on loan appears to be the best for his development.
If the striker were to complete a move to the Championship club, it will be the third time that he is playing in England’s second tier competition having had spells at Hull City and Nottingham Forest in the past.
Akpom was hoping to make the most of Wenger’s decision to keep him in the squad just like his best pal Alex Iwobi did last year but it hasn’t worked out for him. He now has to buckle up and show his quality wherever he spends the second half of the season and come back here a better player at the end of the season.
