Paris Saint-Germain are set to rival Arsenal for Napoli midfielder Jorginho, according to France Football via Talksport.
The Brazilian midfielder has been a target of Arsenal for quite some time and I can’t remember any of the last four transfer windows that he hasn’t been linked to us.
Prior to the signing of Granit Xhaka last summer, Jorginho was reportedly on Wenger’s wish list but the boss opted to sign the Switzerland international.
Despite Wenger’s decision not to pursue a move for Jorginho in the summer, we are still being linked with him and few weeks ago, reports claimed Arsenal scouts were present in one of Napoli’s game to watch the midfielder.
And now new reports reckon PSG are set to challenge us for the services of the 25-year-old.
PSG’s sporting director Patrick Kluivert is believed to be a big fan of the midfielder and he is preparing a January bid to lure the player to the French capital.
It’s not a secret that Arsenal were actually interested in Jorginho in the past but I am not so sure if Wenger is still interested in the midfielder considering it’s a position where we have enough options at the moment.
Jorginho’s style of play means he would have been a perfect successor to Santi Cazorla but with Wenger preparing to offer the Spaniard a new one year deal, I don’t think we will be interested in signing a midfielder until at least 2018 which should give PSG an edge in the race to sign the Brazilian.
