Arsene Wenger has reiterated that he won’t make a decision on his future until the spring.

The French man who has spent 20 years at the helm of affairs is already into the final year of his contract and is yet to make a decision on his long-term future.

Wenger’s decision to delay his contract renewal hasn’t gone down well with some fans and there are fears that the club’s long-term plans could be affected due to the uncertainty of his future but Wenger has refuted such claims, saying the club’s future is safe.

When asked if Arsenal hierarchy were happy with his decision to delay his contract, Wenger replied:

“Yes. I always said that I will judge where I stand in spring and make my decisions then.

“And the club is free as well. It’s not because I am here a long time that I have any rights. We are both in the same boat.”

The boss was also insistent that his decision will not be harmful to the club’s long-term plans, he added:

“No. I don’t think so.

“There are plenty of managers who arrived at the end of their contract. It happened to me before.

“I signed sometimes in March, April for longer contracts. So I don’t think it’s a problem.

“I have worked everywhere I have been until the last day of my contract with total commitment. That’s why maybe I can go back everywhere I was, because people respect that.”

I’d like to think the manager’s decision will be based on how successful our title challenge is this season. By April, when he plans to make a decision on his future, he will be in a better position to assess how successful this season has been and i’m sure that will weigh heavily in his mind when taking his decision.

Whether he stays or not, I’m confident that the club’s future is safe.

Wenger is hoping to lead Arsenal to the league title having missed out on it in the last 12 years.
