Academy youngster Reiss Nelson has signed his first professional contract with Arsenal, the club’s official website has confirmed.
Nelson has been a Gunner since he was seven and has become a regular in our U23 squad at a very young age, establishing himself as one of the club’s brightest talents in the process.
The forward caught the attention of many scouts in the European U17 Championships last summer where he score nine goals in seven games for the young Lions and Arsenal have now moved to secure his long-term future by securing him down on a long-term contract.
Many may not know much about Nelson but if we can cast our minds back to last season, he was one of the academy players Wenger tipped to become a big player for us in the future. Wenger’s confidence on the youngster shows how much those at the club rate the player.
The youngster who often play as a winger can also feature as a centre attacking midfielder and his strengths include close control, pace and good finishing.
The youngster is already training with the first team and I wouldn’t be surprise if he makes his debut soon.
At 17, Nelson has a big future ahead of him and needs to continue learning from the coaches, hopefully he will follow the path of Alex Iwobi into the first team in a not-too-distant future.
