Arsenal Lock Horns With Chelsea- As Top Target Set To Jet Into London

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Chelsea have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie, according to reports.

Kessie has established himself as one of Serie A’s most promising midfielders this season and has caught the attention of big Premier League clubs. The Cote d’Ivoire international has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in recent weeks, with Wenger thought to be preparing a January bid for his services.

But recent reports now claim it is Chelsea who are leading the race to sign the midfielder. According to The Metro, the Blues have tabled a £21.3m bid to sign the 20-year-old.

Kessie is one of the most sought-after players in world football at the moment with as many as four top Premier League and several Italian clubs chasing the lad.

Last week, reports in Italy claimed both Tottenham and Everton were preparing a £19m for the youngster. Manchester United are also in the race to sign the young man after Jose Mourinho contacted the midfielder in November.

Whether Wenger will now firm up his interest interest the youngster we can’t tell but with the amount of interest in his services, one can tell that he is a very talented lad who will be a great signing for any club.

So it wouldn’t be surprising if we actually are interested because Wenger has a penchant of identifying talented young players.

Kessie has already scored six goals this season, which speaks volume of his talents. At his age, he still has room for development and it could be suicidal in the long run to allow him move to a rival club without a fight.

It remains to be seen whether Wenger will be forced to rival Chelsea’s bid but I really hope he does as Kessie will be a great signing for the future.
