Mathieu Debuchy wants to leave Arsenal this month but still has an Arsenal contract until June 2019.
He is one player that is reportedly keen to change clubs this winter is Arsenal’s Debuchy. The French international has featured just once for Arsenal this year and wants to play regularly but he is unlikely to force his way back into Wenger’s starting XI due to the presence of Hector Bellerin.
According to L’Equipe, report on Friday claims that there’s a 75% chance of Debuchy getting a move in the January window, with Lille and Marseille all interested in signing the defender out of the Emirates.
The defender is currently out of action with an hamstring injury but his chances of playing regularly when he returns is very slim and a move to the Ligue 1 could appeal to him.
Debuchy joined Arsenal from Newcastle in 2014 but his stay at the Emirates hasn’t been successful and has only managed to start just 13 games as a Gunner.
It’s understandable that Debuchy wants to leave but I doubt if Wenger would sanction his exit. Carl Jenkinson is on the verge of joining Championship side Aston Villa and Debuchy’s exit could leave Bellerin as out only recognized right back which will be too risky considering we will be challenging for at least three titles.
Wenger recenlty hinted that there will be no new arrival at the Emirates in January, making it more unlikely for Debuchy to leave. However, we will have to wait and see what happens with the French man.
