Arsene Wenger has denied claims that Arsenal are interested in signing Atlanta midfielder Franck Kessie this month, according to a report in the Daily Star.
Kessie is being linked with a January move to the Premier League and Arsenal are one of the numerous clubs that have been linked with the midfielder.
Kessie’s agent George Antana recently claimed Arsenal along with Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool are all interested in his client. But Wenger has refuted Antana’s claims, saying he is not interested in the midfielder.
Wenger who has previously stressed he isn’t looking to bring in new faces to the Emirates this winter quickly put rumors linking Kessie with a move to Arsenal by simply replying “No” when he was asked about his interest in the player.
Well that’s it, I think that should put an end to all the Arsenal-Kessie rumors.
There is no doubt about Kessie’s quality but this has always looked like a move that his agent is trying to force. Arsenal do not need Kessie at the moment as Wenger has a lot of options in the young man’s position.
I have always known that there was nothing concrete in reports linking us with the player. The young man has huge potential but will be a luxury signing if Arsenal makes any move to sign him this winter.
