Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Replacement Close To Signing For Arsenal Source Reveals

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal appears to be very interested in signing Porto winger Yacine Brahimi, if reports in Portugal are to be believed.

Brahimi was heavily linked with a move to the Premier League in the summer transfer window and Arsenal were one of the clubs linked with the Algerian but a move didn’t materialise as Porto wanted his €60m release clause activated.

The winger has continued his impressive performances for Porto this season and is back on Wenger’s radar.

According to Portuguese Newspaper A’Bola via The Daily Star, Arsenal scouts were present to watch Brahimi in Porto’s 4-0 win over Feirense a last week.

The Gunners are not the only team interested in the winger though as Manchester United’s scouts have also watched the Algerian this season.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of wingers in recent weeks with the likes of Dimitri Payet and Goncalo Guedes said to be on the club’s radar, meaning Wenger could actually be interested in signing a winger.

The future of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is in doubt amid interest from Manchester City and Liverpool. The England international is already into the last 18 months of his contract at the Emirates and talks to extend his contract is yet to commence.

Brahimi could be one of Wenger’s targets to replace the England international and should the Algerian continue to perform the way he did in the first half of the season, I wouldn’t be surprise, if Wenger steps up his interest in the forward.

However, a move for the winger is unlikely to happen in this month’s transfer window as he is currently with the Algeria national team for the AFCON competition and is not due to return until mid-February but a summer move is very possible and it will be interesting to see whether Wenger decides to step up his interest then or not.

The winger has scored four goals and provided six assists for Porto this season and could well be a quality signing for Arsenal.
