Inter Milan are still hopeful of signing Alexis Sanchez next summer, according to Calciomercato.com.
The Serie A side has been keeping tabs on Sanchez and are keen to bring him back to Italy.
Sanchez is yet to sign a contract extension to his current deal which expires in 2018. Arsenal opened talks with Sanchez in August but are yet to reach an agreement with the striker who is demanding a new deal worth more than £200,000 a week. The Gunners are reluctant to meet the player’s demands and negotiations have stalled as a result.
And Inter Milan are hoping to sign him if he doesn’t sign a new contract before the end of the season.
The report via Gunnersphere.com claims Inter will use their good relationship with Sanchez’s agent and the presence of the striker’s compatriot Gary Medel at the San Siro to lure the striker away from the Emirates.
Well played by the Italian media, I must say.
Few weeks ago, a similar report was published that Juventus are hopeful of signing the striker next summer also.
The Italian media has refused to stop linking the striker with a return back to the Serie A despite Wenger ruling out the possibility of a sale even if the player doesn’t sign a new deal.
Personally, I don’t think Sanchez will be leaving Arsenal at the end of the season. The Chilean is a key man in our squad and I’m sure all parties involved in talks to extend his contract will reach a compromise soon. It’s only going to take time and I’ll urge Gooners to remain patient and not panic.
