According to reports making the round, Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has confirmed his interest in signing Carl Jenkinson on loan this month.
The defender has been told he can leave the Emirates after he failed to impress this season.
As many as four Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in signing the defender and Allardyce who is keen on strengthening his playing squad has confirmed he is keeping an eye on Jenkinson.
“We haven’t got enough numbers at the moment,” he said in his pre-match press conference before the game against Arsenal.
“If we were all fit, it wouldn’t be too bad but certainly the chairman would like to sign a couple of players if possible. We have one loan left – we will look to see if he [Jenkinson] is available.”
Arsenal on their own part are open to selling the defender permanently or could agree a loan deal with an option to buy at the end of the season with interested clubs.
Allardyce worked with Jenkinson when he was in charge of West Ham in the 2014/2015 season and enjoyed a good relationship with the player.
Jenkinson is not the only right back expected to leave the Emirates this winter, Mathieu Debuchy has also indicated his desire to leave Arsenal this month which could leave Bellerin has the only recognized right sided defender in the squad.
It remains to be seen whether Wenger will be forced into the market to sign a new right back or block the exit of either Jenkinson or Debuchy.
