Manager Gives Major Update On Arsenal Target Completing Medicals

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Gunners target Moussa Dembele will not be sold this summer, Celtic manager Bredan Rodgers has confirmed.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the young striker and it was claimed that Wenger is preparing a January bid to sign the lad.

Our scouts were reportedly present at Celtic’s game on several occasions this season to watch the lad which caused reports crediting Wenger with a strong interest.

Arsenal weren’t the only club linked the player as Manchester City and Liverpool were also credited with serious interests.

However, Rodgers has now dismissed any possibility of the striker changing clubs this winter. When asked if there was a possibility of the striker leaving Celtic this month, the former Liverpool boss said, as quoted by

‘I wouldn’t have thought so.

‘He’s obviously had a very good season and I can’t stop people writing about him or his valuation. But at the moment he’s very happy here and enjoying working and developing.

‘He won’t go in January, no question about that.

We don’t need to sell. We need our best players to finish the season the best we can.’

Dembele’s contract at Celtic doesn’t run out until 2020 and the Scottish giants are definitely in a strong position to keep him.

Rodgers reluctance to sell the player shouldn’t be surprising to anyone, I was actually surprised seeing reports linking the striker with a move to the Emirates having only joined Celtic last summer.

Prior to his summer move, Arsenal were interested in signing him but he preferred to join to the Scottish giants, so I never saw any possibility of him moving to the Emirates just after six months. It wasn’t going to happen!
