French giants Paris Saint Germain are urging Alexis Sanchez not to sign a new contract at Arsenal as they prepare a summer move for the Chile international, according to reports.
Sanchez will have just one year left in his contract at the end of the season and Arsenal have been in talks with him to extend his contract, but both the player and the club are yet to reach an agreement.
PSG are reportedly looking to take advantage of the situation by launching a huge bid to sign the player. According to the Mirror, the French club is urging the player to continue stalling on signing a new contract with Arsenal until the summer.
They believe it will be difficult to sign the player if he signs a new deal with Arsenal and are hoping he doesn’t so they can launch a cut-price £60m bid for his services at the end of the season.
Patrick Kluivert who is the French club’s director of football has already contacted Sanchez’ representatives to make known their intention of signing the player.
Sanchez who recently turned down a new deal worth around £180,000 weekly is holding out for a fee closer to £250,000 and PSG are more than willing to meet his demands.
Arsene Wenger recently admitted that finance is one reason holding up the player’s renewal but remained confident that Chilean will stay here but warned that we won’t pay over the odds to keep him. This is obviously a delicate situation, either the player or the club now have to shift ground and none appear to be ready to do that.
With the way things are looking, it could go either way but I reckon Sanchez will stay with us if we manage to win a major title this season. Peradventure he doesn’t, it will be difficult to turn down a £60m bid for the winger, a tough decision Wenger will have to make.
