Arsene Wenger isn’t interested in signing new players this winter but wants to focus on extending five of his current players contract, according to reports.

Since the beginning of the ongoing transfer window, Wenger has played down several reports linking us with new players. The boss insists he wants to keep his current squad which he thinks is good enough to challenge for titles this season.

Popular English tabloid the Sun have now thrown more light on the situation. They claim Wenger’s focus is to tie five of his current players down to new contracts.

Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil’s contract renewals remain Arsenal’s priority.

Both players have been key to Arsenal’s fine form this season and the club wants them to extend their current contract which expires in 2018.

Wenger also wants to offer Francis Coquelin, Olivier Giroud and Santi Cazola new deals.

Coquelin and Giroud are already in talks with the club and it is believed that an agreement will be reached soon.

Arsenal will also look to activate a clause in Cazorla’s contract which will enable us extend his deal by one year.

Wenger would now postpone any major transfer business to next summer in order to focus on extending the above named players deals but that hasn’t stopped and won’t stop us from being linked with new players this month.

Arsenal have already been linked with the likes of Miralem Pjanic, Andrea Belotti and Dimitri Payet but we all know what to make of those rumors now as the boss has prioritized keeping his current squad.
