Mesut Ozil Makes Outrageous Demand Before Signing A New Contract

Mesut Ozil has revealed his demands if he is going to sign a new contract with the club.

The German international has been in talks with Arsenal over a new deal since August but negotiations have dragged on longer than expected. There have been various reports about his future, from reports that he wants to move back to Real Madrid to reports that he wants a huge pay rise.

The player has now revealed that he wants Wenger’s future to be resolved before putting pen to paper on a new deal.

Speaking to German outlet Kicker, as quoted by The Daily Star, Ozil claimed he is very happy at Arsenal but wants the uncertainty surrounding Wenger’s future to be resolved before his.

“I’m very, very happy at Arsenal and have let the club know that I would be ready to sign a new contract, the midfielder said.

“The club knows I’m here most of all because of Arsene Wenger.

“He is the one who signed me and he is the one whose trust I have.

“The club also know that I want to be clear with what’s happening to the manager.

“The fans want me to stay and now it’s just down to the club.”

While the player’s comment will give many fans hope that he will stay at the Emirates as Wenger is likely to stay too, I am not too comfortable with the player’s statement.

I agree that it is very important to have the trust of your manager but to base your future on that of the manager is totally unprofessional. There is no doubt that Wenger played a key role in bringing the German to the Emirates but he signed a future with Arsenal FC and not the manager.

I may be too harsh in my judgement but it doesn’t sound right to me to say you’ll stay if the manager stays.
