Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil both want to become one of Premier League’s highest earners when they pen new deals at Arsenal, according to reports.
The star players have been in talks with Arsenal over a contract extension since the beginning of the season but an agreement is yet to be reached.
It is believed each of the players and the club are apart in terms of financial worth of their new deals and this has somewhat stalled negotiations.
According to the Daily Express, Sanchez and Ozil are demanding more than a 100 percent increase to their current salaries.
Sanchez currently earns about £130,000 weekly with Ozil on a £140,000 a week but both players now want close to £290,000 a week which Paul Pogba earns at Manchester United.
Pogba became the league’s top earner after completing a world record move to the Man Utd last summer and both Gunners stars believe they should be rated on par with the French man.
This is contrary to Ozil’s claim that it is Wenger’s uncertain future that is stopping him from signing a new deal with us.
I don’t know what to make of this report because the figure being quoted is outrageous and doesn’t show that the players want to stay here.
I don’t think Arsenal should pay Sanchez and Ozil that much even though other clubs are paying their players as high as that.
