Borussia Dortmund are still keen on signing Arsenal starlet Gideon Zelalem despite Wenger’s reluctance to let him leave.
Zelalem is highly rated at the Emirates and is regarded as one of Arsenal’s most talented youngsters
The young midfielder spent last season on loan at Rangers where he impressed and Wenger thought it wise to include him in Arsenal squad for this campaign but he has been able to force his way into Wenger’s starting xi, making just three cup appearances so far.
According to the Sun via Sports Mole, BVB are now interested in signing the midfielder.
The Bundesliga side are weighing up a loan move with an option to buy at the end of the season.
Arsene Wenger would be reluctant to let Zelalem leave this month and is expected to reject BVB ‘s bid for the young man
Although Zelalem will benefit from playing regularly at another club, it is unlikely that Wenger would want to send him out on loan considering the current situation of Arsenal’s midfield.
Wenger has already lost Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin to injury while Mohammed Elneny is away for the African Cup of Nations Competition, so it is unlikely the boss will want to let Zelalem leave this month.
Zelalem is currently providing cover for Aaron Ramsey and Granit Xhaka, so, it is very unlikely Wenger would sanction a move this month, the player’s future could be reconsidered in the summer if he doesn’t impress this season.
