Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Arsenal are still interested in signing Benfica Winger Goncalo Guedes, according to a report in the Metro.

Gunners scouts have been present at Benfica’s game to watch the exciting winger on numerous occasions this season and according to reports earlier in the season Chief Scout Luis Boa Morte had to take a trip to Portugal to watch the midfielder. That’s to show the level of our interest in the 20 year old.

According to the Metro, Arsenal representatives were present at Benfica’s recent 2-0 cup game against Guimaraes to watch the forward in action.

Guedes scored both of his team’s goal on the night and Arsenal scouts were more than impressed with his performances, forcing us to step up our pursuit of the striker.

However, it is not only Wenger that has noticed the winger’s form as French giants PSG are also in the race to sign the lad.

It was suggested that the French side have sealed a deal to sign the player but the London Evening Standard claim that Arsenal have been assured that reports claiming the player is on his way to France is totally false.

This means Arsenal still have a chance to sign him from Benfica if not this winter, then maybe in the summer.

However, it will be interesting to see if Wenger will go any length to get the winger. He reportedly has a £52m release clause in his contract with Benfica and the Portuguese giants are not prepared to sell their youngster on a cheap.

One thing is sure, the player would cost Arsenal more than £25m, a fee which has already been rejected from Valencia for the same player

Wenger has recently began to show he is willing to spend big on a player on top players, so how high he rates Guedes will determine whether we will go all out to sign him or not.

I hope will do, I’d love to see the next Cristiano Ronaldo at the Emirates, wouldn’t you?
