Medicals Done- Star Reveals It’s All Left To Arsene Wenger To Announce Deal

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

On-loan Arsenal star Wojciech Szczesny has revealed that Arsene Wenger will have the final decision on his future.

Szczesny is currently on loan at Roma for the second consecutive year and we recently covered a report yesterday that claimed that the Italian giants want to sign him permanently.

It has been suggested that the player will not want to return to Arsenal if he isn’t guaranteed a first-team place at the Emirates but the player has told Corriere Dello Sport that his future is in the hands of Arsene Wenger.

He said: “My future? I would also like to know where I will be, as quoted by the Independent.

“The truth is that it’s in the hands of Wenger, the coach and man in whose hands [my career has been] since I was 16.”

Szczesny will have just one year left in his contract when he returns from his Roma loan spell and many fear that we may be forced to let him leave permanently if he doesn’t sign a new contract but his words will please Arsenal chiefs and fans alike as the player has now left the door open to extending his stay here.

It is unlikely that Cech would stop being Arsenal’s first choice goalie next season but if Szczesny decides to stay with us, Wenger could split goalkeeping duties between him and the Czech Republic man but that means the end of David Ospina at the Emirates.

I don’t know what Wenger plans are actually and it will be interesting to find out what his plans are. I think the Polish shot-stopper has improved as a goalkeeper than compared to when he first left us two years ago and could just help save us from spending big cash in search of a successor to Cech.
