Arsenal midfielder Jon Toral has joined Scottish side Glasgow Rangers on loan until the end of the season.
The Spanish midfielder spent the first half of the season on loan at Granada but his spell at the Spanish club wasn’t successful, making just a handful of appearances.
Arsenal recalled the midfielder from Granada last week and will now allow him spend the second half of the campaign at Rangers.
Rangers boss Mark Warburton worked with the midfielder at Bretford in 2014 and it is believed the player would get more opportunities under a boss he knows well.
And the player is happy with the switch and is itching to repay Warburton’s faith in him.
“I’m very, very happy to be here and the stadium just shows how big the club is – I really can’t wait to get started,” Toral told Rangers TV .
“I think knowing the manager has played a big part in it and also the connection the gaffer has with Arsenal.
“It’s happened before with Gideon [Zelalem], it happened at Brentford before as well – I think it’s very important that I know Arsenal are very comfortable with me moving here.
“I really enjoyed my time at Brentford with [Warburton] so that was in my mind to make this decision.
“The style of play is similar to the style of play and philosophy we have at Arsenal, so I think that is a big part as well.”
There is no doubt that Toral will benefit more from this switch than if he were to stay at Granada.
His previous relationship with Warburton will definitely put him in a good position to play better which will help him develop properly.
I think this is a good move considering the reason for sending a player out on loan is to play regularly and Toral is likely to get that at Rangers.
