Arsene Wenger is desperate to sign AC Milan striker M’Baye Niang and has ordered Arsenal chiefs to do everything possible to sign the French forward, according to reports in Italy.
Corriere Dello Sport via 101 great goals are claiming Wenger wants to bring the French striker to the Emirates.
Reports claimed on Tuesday that the manager is set to sign a new contract with Arsenal and now it’s being suggested that he is already planning for the future by plotting a summer move for the 22 year old striker.
The report doesn’t give us any information on when an official bid will be made but it’s likely to be in the summer as Arsenal will have to make space for Niang in our squad which will be difficult to do this month.
Niang is definitely a quality attacker on his day but the player’s problem remains his inconsistency. His good days are hard to come by and that has been evident in the last few months as he is yet to record a goal or an assist since October.
I’m not so sure why Wenger is interested in the forward considering he still needs to develop properly and may struggle to make any immediate impact if he joins us now.
Perhaps we are being linked with him because his contract at Milan expires in 2019 and talks to extend his contract has been unsuccessful so far. This may just be a ploy by the Italian media to put pressure on Milan.
I’ll be watching future developments with keen interest.
