Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Paris Saint-Germain are set to rival Arsenal in the race to sign Benfica winger Goncalo Guedes, according to reports.

Arsenal scouts have monitored the youngster on several occasions this season and it is thought that Wenger wants to bring the defender to the Emirates.

In December, reports claimed Wenger sees the Portuguese international as a quality replacement for Chamberlain.

Arsenal held talks with the player last summer and have continued to watch him since then. Our representatives were also present at Benfica’s game last weekend where he scored two goals.

This means our interest in the young winger is very strong but we would now face serious competition fo his services.

French giants Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined the race to sign the winger, having been impressed by his performances also.

The French club have a perfect relationship with the winger’s agent and will look to take advantage of that.

Guedes has a €60m release clause in his current contract at Benfica but PSG have reportedly made a €30m bid for the winger, which is expected to be rejected.

It remains to be seen if PSG will up their bid for the young man. In Arsenal’s case, the chances that Wenger will make a bid for the striker this winter is very slim considering the number of options we have in attack. Also Wenger has pushed any major deal forward to next summer and any deal to sign Guedes will be considered a major one because he will cost a large sum of money.

It remains to be seen if PSG’s interest will force Wenger to change his mind. I hope it does because Guedes is a superb talent I wouldn’t like us to miss. How about you? Would you like Guedes at the Emirates? The floor is yours fellow Gooners.
