Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has vented out his anger at Granit Xhaka as he believes the Swiss international is ‘punishing’ Arsenal with his lack of control after receiving a red card in Sunday’s 2-1 victory over Burnley.
This will be the 24-year-old’s second red card having joined us in summer and his seventh in the last two years for both club and country.
Xhaka, was sent off in the 65th minute of the game forcing the Gunners to play with 10 men after a two-footed challenge in Steven Defour.
‘Honestly, I have to look at it again,’ said Wenger.
‘The noises I get are that it was a red card. He has to control his game and not punish the team with a lack of control in his tackling.
‘We don’t encourage our midfielders to go down in tackles. We want them to stand up and not to make these type of fouls. If it’s a bad tackle, it’s a red card.’
