ADVANTAGE Arsenal: Club President In London To Conclude 2nd Winter Deal

Goonersden brings you news from top football news sites from the likes of ESPN, SkySport, Daily Mail, Daily Star and Metro… We also Analyse football, player, transfer and predict Arsenal starting line-up.

Goncalo Guedes is closing in on a move away from Benfica, according to reports.

The young winger has been in impressive form this season and is being linked with a move away from the Portuguese club with Manchester United and Arsenal said to be keen on his services.

On Saturday, Portuguese newspaper Record claimed the player is on the verge of leaving Benfica after his club president Luis Filipe Vieira flew to London alongside his agent to discuss his sale.

However, there are contradictory reports about the club who is on the verge of signing th player.

According to Sport Witness, it is Arsenal who are well placed to sign the young winger. The report claims Arsenal “gained strength in the last few days” because Chamberlain could move to Manchester City. How true this is, I can’t tell.

The Metro, citing the same Portuguese newspaper as its source claims it is Manchester United who are on the verge of signing the winger and they are the reason Vieira is in London to negotiate the player’s exit. Ridiculous, yeah? Maybe.

It is suggested that negotiations will progress in the next few days as Vieira wants to get a huge fee for his prized asset.

The story really lacks credibility and one can’t really say for sure what is going on. The price required to sign the player wasn’t mentioned and information wasn’t given on the stage of negotiations are at the moment.

I’m skeptical about this report because Wenger has already ruled out making a major signing this winter transfer window. Even though the winger is being lined up as a replacement for Chamberlain, it isn’t even certain that the England international will be leaving the Emirates yet.

I don’t think an Arsenal move for Guedes will happen, I even doubt if we are truly interested in the winger.
