In December, Cazorla was linked with a move to Juventus and Atletico Madrid who were alerted by the fact that the player was into into the final year of his contract but Wenger hinted that the club would take up the option of extending the midfielder’s contract and it appears all necessary procedures needed to keep the midfielder here next season has been finalized.

Although, there is no official announcement on the new contract yet, a documentation released by the FA shows that Cazorla has put pen to paper on a new deal.

The FA’s revelation shows that the new contract was signed as far back as December.

This will come as good news to Gooners who were keen to see the Spaniard remain in in our squad. Although the midfielder hasn’t featured since October, his importance in our team can’t be overlooked. When fit, Cazorla has shown that he can control, dictate our play and also bring out the best from others players, so it would have been a disaster if his contract was allowed to run out.

The midfielder is now the second player to extend his contract in the last few days after Per Mertesacker signed a new one year deal also. Arsenal will now attention to contract renewal of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
