Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce is still hopeful that Carl Jenkinson will join him at Selhurst Park this month, according to the Express.
Palace are one of the clubs interested in Jenkinson and it was thought that the defender was closing in on a move to Selhurst Park but yesterday, reports claimed the move was off. It was claimed Palace had failed to agree a deal with Arsenal to sign the defender and that both clubs have now moved on but it appears Allardyce isn’t willing to give up even if his club has.
Speaking before Palace’s game against Everton on Saturday, Allardyce was refusing to give up on the signing of Jenkinson.
“Until the chairman rings me up and says Carl Jenkinson deal is dead, it’s still ongoing for me,” said Allardyce.
Allardyce is determined to sign Jenkinson and this is understandable as he played a crucial role in taking the defender to West Ham in 2014. The pair enjoyed a superb relationship and Allardyce is keen to reunite with the England international as he fights to keep his side in the Premier League.
It remains to be seen if both clubs will make a U-turn and then agree a fee for the defender. I’d love them to considering there is no need for Jenkinson to stay here after falling down the pecking order.
A move to Palace will be perfect for the defender as it will offer him the opportunity to re-launch his career but both clubs have to reach an agreement first.
