Barcelona Star Reveals Wenger’s Long time Target Is On His Way For Medicals

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has revealed Arsenal Long-term target Alexandre Lacazette is “waiting for the right moment” to leave Lyon.

Umtiti and Lacazette were teammates at Lyon before the former completed a move to Barcelona last summer and the pair have a special relationship with each other.

Arsenal were interested in signing Lacazette in the last transfer window and even had a £29m bid rejected for the 25 year old. Despite Wenger’s attempts to push through a deal, Lyon were uninterested in selling the striker after losing Umtiti to Barcelona earlier that summer.

The French striker who has scored more than 20 goals in each of his last two seasons has continued to impress this season, scoring 17 league goals in 16 games and he is expected to attract interests from top clubs next summer and Umtiti has claimed the striker will take his time to make the right move.

‘I have a lot of respect for Lyon, they’re one of the biggest French clubs, but there will come a time when he could leave to improve,’ the Barcelona defender told Canal+, as quoted by the Metro.

‘He’ll have that desire, I know his character. He’s waiting for the right moment.’

Lacazette’s contract at Lyon expires in 2019 and next summer could well be the perfect time for him to leave Lyon but I’m not sure whether Arsenal will renew it’s interest in the striker after signing Lucas Perez from Deportivo La Coruna in August.

Arsenal can still do well with a top class centre forward and although one can’t say Lacazette is in the class already, he obviously isn’t far off.
