Carl Jenkinson’s move to Crystal Palace is back on, according to the Telegraph.
Palace have been in talks with Arsenal over the transfer of the defender but last week, several media outlets claimed that the move was off after both clubs failed to agree a fee for the defender.
Then, it was suggested that both clubs had moved on but Palace boss Sam Allardyce subsequently claimed in his press conference before the game against Everton, that he wasn’t given up on a deal.
It appears the ex-England man’s reluctance to give up has paid off as both clubs have now reached an agreement for the fullback.
According to the Telegraph via the Daily Star, a deal worth around £7m has been agreed by both clubs.
Arsenal have now sanctioned a deal for the defender to move to Selhurst Park but Allardyce men will have to agree personal terms with the player first. The Eagles are confident that wouldn’t be a problem as they aim to get out of the relegation zone.
Jenkinson has struggled to make an impact at Arsenal since moving to the Emirates in 2011 and a permanent exit is definitely the best move for his career.
He would now have the opportunity to get his career back on track and fulfill the huge potential that made Wenger sign him in 2011. I really hope he does.
This is also a brilliant deal for Arsenal financially. The defender has dropped down the pecking order at the Emirates and getting that much from his a sale is a brilliant business. Nice one Arsene!
