Real Madrid president Fiorentino Perez is willing to sell Karim Benzema, according to Tribal Football.
Benzema has been a regular in Madrid’s first team since he completed a big-money move to the Spanish capital in 2009 but he has begun to show signs of deterioration in recent seasons and Perez is prepared to force him out next summer.
According to Don Balon, Perez believes Benzema who just celebrated his 29th birthday is past his best and wants to replace him with a younger striker.
However, the French man is a favorite of Zinedine Zidane and the manager doesn’t want to sell the forward.
Perez could override the boss’ decision as he feels he may not be able to get a large fee from the sale of the striker if he misses the opportunity of selling him this next summer.
And the Spanish club has already contacted Arsenal who are long-term admirers of the striker.
Arsenal have been consistently linked with Benzema in the last four summer transfer windows and Madrid want to ascertain if we are still interested in the forward.
I doubt if Wenger is still interested in the striker considering we have enough options in his position already. Although some fans think we still need a top class striker in our squad, I don’t think Benzema is the right man anymore. He is no longer among football’s elite strikers and is already close to the 30 year mark, so he will not be the ideal signing for us.
I think we must snub the chance to sign Benzene and move for exciting young strikers like Andrea Belotti.
