Arsenal have opened talks with Borussia Dortmund over potential £51m Marco Reus deal, according to reports.
Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the German attacker and have tried to sign him on several occasions but has been unsuccessful due to BVB’s reluctance to sell him.
And according to the Daily Express, Wenger could make a move for the versatile forward next summer transfer window.
The report claims Wenger sees Reus as a perfect replacement to Alexis Sanchez who is stalling on signing a new contract.
Whoscored.com claims Arsenal have opened talks with BVB over a potential deal.
It is believed Arsenal are prepared to spend up to £51m in transfer fees and also offer the player a five year deal worth £6.8m annually.
The proposed deal will break Arsenal’s transfer record fee of £42.5m we payed for Mesut Ozil in 2013 and would make him one of our highest paid players.
Wenger’s preference would be to keep Sanchez but the Chilean’s contract expires at the end of next season and we may be forced to sell him in the next transfer window if he doesn’t sign a new deal before then.
Reus will be a perfect replacement for the Chilean but the only problem I think we will have is his ability to stay fit. The Germany international has a poor injury record and it wouldn’t be great having one of our key players sidelined for majority of the season if he happens to join us.
