Reports in Spain are claiming Arsenal can only sign Alvaro Morata next summer if Karim Benzema stays at Real Madrid.

Arsenal were one of the clubs that was heavily linked with the Spanish striker last summer but Madrid were not willing to sell. He was offered a new deal to stay at the Bernabeu but things haven’t gone as planned and he is struggling to force his way into their starting xi.

Reports claim Morata is unhappy with Zidane’s decision to continuously overlook him for Benzema and has made his feelings known to the club.

Madrid president Fiorentino Perez has been angered by the player’s reaction and has decided to sell him at the end of the season. Real Madrid are thought to have slapped a £51m price-tag on the winger.

But according to the London Evening Standard via the Express, a deal to sign Morata will depend on Benzema’s future.

Benzema is attracting interest from China and with the big money on offer in the Asia country, the French striker could be tempted to leave the Bernabeu.

Should Benzema leave, Zidane will not sanction Morata’s exit which will put an end to Arsenal’s hope of signing him.

Benzema has been a long-time target of Arsenal and some reports have already suggested that we could make a move for the French man if he becomes available but obviously, we can’t compete with Chinese clubs.

That aside, i’m not so sure if Arsenal is really interested in a striker, we signed Lucas Perez last summer, Olivier Giroud just signed a new long-term contract, we also have Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez on our books but the report claims Wenger is keen to beef up his attack. We’ll have to wait and see.
