Watford have beaten Arsenal and a host of clubs to the services of AC Milan forward M’Baye Niang, according to reports.
Yesterday, Milan coach Vincenzo Montella revealed the winger is in talks with the club over an exit and it appears an agreement has been reached for the French man to spend the remainder of the season out on loan.
Arsenal were one of the clubs that was linked with Niang but according to the gunnershpere.com, it is Watford who are closing in on the forward’s signature.
The Hornets manager Walter Mazzari who managed Milan fiercest rival Inter Milan in the past has used his Italian connection to convince Niang to join him at the Vicarage Road.
The player will now complete a loan move to Watford in the next few days. The report suggests the Italians have included an option to make the move permanent for £13.5m which will become active if he plays a certain number of games for the Hornets between now and the end of the season.
Niang wanted a permanent move away from Milan but it is believed he is still happy to have secured a temporary one.
Arsene Wenger had reportedly told Arsenal chiefs to do everything possible to sign the forward but it is Watford who have won the race for his signature.
