Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas says he will consider selling former Arsenal target Alexandre Lacazette this summer should a big club show interest in his services.

The French striker was the subject of serious interest from Arsenal in the last summer transfer window but Lyon weren’t interested in selling. They had already sold Samuel Umtiti to Barcelona earlier that summer and weren’t under any pressure to sell again. Hence they wanted to keep hold of Lacazette at all cost.

With the summer transfer window drawing closer again, Lacazette plunged his Lyon future into doubt when he revealed he wants to move to a bigger club.

Following the player’s statement  Lyon president, Aulas has now opened up on his future, insisting he won’t stand in the 25 year old’s way if a big club comes for his services this summer.

“If one day there is an opportunity, of course, as we did with Sam [Umtiti] and Abi [Eric Abidal] in Barcelona or Karim [Benzema] in Madrid or further in time with Ludo [Giuly] to Monaco, who left, why not?” Aulas told OL TV, as quoted by the Express.

“Alex has wanted to play in a great club and Lyon does not object. We are perfectly in line.”

Arsenal’s interest in Lacazette dates beyond last summer and this could be a perfect opportunity for Wenger to finally get his man.

However, I am unsure if Wenger wants to sign a striker again considering the numerous options available to him upfront. A move for Lacazette will make sense but then someone has to leave for the French man to come in.

The striker has established himself as France’s next big striker having scored more than 20 league goals in the last three seasons. It remains to be seen whether Wenger will take advantage of this opportunity to finally bring a word class striker to the Emirates.
