Arsenal could beat Chelsea to the services of Rangers wonder kid Billy Gilmour, according to reports.
The 15-year-old midfielder has been winning plaudits from fans and pundits in Scotland for his superb performances and top Premier League’s have also been alerted by the youngster’s immense potential and are now working on a deal to lure him away from Rangers
Chelsea were thought to be closing in on the youngster’s signature but recent reports suggest the midfielder’s move to Stamford Bridge is now in doubt after Arsenal were given permission to talk to the lad.
According to the Sun via the Daily Star, Arsenal have been given permission to hold discussions with Gilmour and his family in London this weekend.
The midfielder is already in London and was spotted watching an Arsenal Under-16 game and had a chat with Arsenal academy head of scouting Steve Marrow.
Gilmour will be available for as little as £100,000 which wouldn’t be a problem for interested clubs but a deal cannot be completed until he turns 16 in June.
It remains to be seen if Chelsea will come back strong for the midfielder but I think a move to Arsenal should appeal more to the player. He just needs to take a look at the contrasting fortunes of youngsters at both clubs over the years before making his decision. I’m sure that will do him a whole lot of good.
