Charlton Athletic are fighting hard to keep one of its promising youngsters Enzri Konsa away from Arsenal and other admirers, according to reports.
Konsa was linked with a move to the Emirates earlier in the season and it was reported that the youngster had caught Wenger’s attention with his superb performances.
However, it appears the midfielder wasn’t short of offers in the just concluded winter transfer window but the Addicks stood firm and rebuffed all approaches to sign the young man.
According to London Evening standard via Tribal Football, Charlton refused to sell Konsa in the just concluded transfer window despite the huge amount of interest in the lad.
Arsenal were not the only Premier League side keeping tabs on the player with the report naming Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United as other clubs interested in the youngster but the Addicks successfully warded off interests from these clubs.
Although the report didn’t state if Arsenal made an official approach or not, considering Wenger’s penchant of signing talented young players, I wouldn’t be surprised if future reports reveal Arsenal did make an attempt to sign him.
Charlton were adamant they won’t lose Konsa after selling Ademola Lookman to Everton early in the transfer window and they successfully did so.
Konsa has started the last 10 games for his club and has been impressive. The notion is that Charlton would not be able to hold on to the youngster for long if he continues to perform the way he is doing.
However, we are unsure if he will end up at the Emirates or at a rival club just like Lookman who ended up at the Merseyside despite numerous reports that linked us with him in the last one year before his move to Everton.
