Arsenal are leading the race to sign Sheffield Wednesday striker George Hirst, according to report.
Hirst, 17, has been receiving plaudits for his performances in Sheffield’s junior team this season and he is said to have impressed Wenger with those performances.
Arsenal are now seriously interested in the youngster despite making only two appearances for Sheffield’s first team.
According to the People via the Express, Arsenal are in the Front queue to sign the young striker.
Wenger has built a reputation of nurturing youngsters into top footballers and Hirst could well be the next to light up the Emirates if Wenger successfully signs him.
Hirst signing will go on to prove that our philosophy of nurturing young players is still top of our agenda as our desire to sign top established players.
Arsenal signed Cohen Bramall from Hednesford town for about £40,000 in January and has also been linked with other youngsters like Marcelo Allende and Daniel Hanslik in recent weeks.
