Arsenal have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Schalke 04 defender Sead Kolasinac, according to reports.
Kolasinac has been a key player for Schalke since he joined them in 2012 but his future is now in doubt after he failed to reach an agreement with his club over a contract extension to his current contract which expires at the end of the season.
And according to Bild via 101 Greatgoals, Arsenal are interested in signing the defender who has made over 80 Bundesliga appearances. He has established himself as one of the German club’s best players. Although he is relatively unknown to many outside Germany, the defender is being tipped to develop into a very good fullback in the future.
Chelsea were close to signing the defender in January but Schalke changed their mind in the last minute, preferring to keep him and let him leave for free at the end of the season.
The Blues are expected to return for his services at the end of the season but would face competition from Arsenal.
Wenger is reportedly keen on strengthening the left back position and has been looking at young quality players. At just 23 years of age, Kolasinac will definitely be on Wenger’s radar as he is sure of offering us 8-10 years of top level football if he can fulfill he potential.
