Arsene Wenger has dismissed reports that he is interested in signing Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart.
The England international has been linked with a summer switch to the Emirates but Wenger has revealed he isn’t interested in signing the goalkeeper.
Report had claimed Arsenal were lining up a £15m bid for the goalie who was forced out of City at the beginning of the season by Pep Guardiola. The Spanish tactician claimed the 29 year old doesn’t fit into his philosophy and was subsequently sent to Torino where he has impressed so far.
Reports now suggest he has done enough to attract the interests of England’s big clubs including Arsenal.
Cech’s future came under the spotlight following his mistake against Chelsea last weekend and reports are suggesting that Hart could replace him but Wenger has dismissed those reports.
The boss said he is happy with his goalkeeping options and isn’t looking to bring in any new face.
When asked about a possible deal for Hart, Wenger said: “I have three world-class goalkeepers and I am very happy with the three I have.”
Obviously, that puts an end to reports linking us with a move for Hart but I don’t think Wenger’s statement entirely rules out the arrival of a new goalkeeper in the summer because I am of the opinion that we will see some changes in that position at the end of the season.
We were heavily linked with Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak as well as Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford in January and something tells me Wenger is already keeping an eye on Cech’s successor.
Hart may not be on Wenger’s wish list which is understandable considering he is closing in on his 30th birthday but I expect someone younger to arrive here at the end of the season with Ospina more likely to make way.
